The Republic of Botswana is a luxury leisure and safari holiday destination in Southern Africa. The country has a low population (about 3m) and enjoys stable economy built on diamond, tourism and farming, all of which contribute to making it one of the rich countries in Sub-saharan Africa. It’s tourism – the leading destinations being Chobe, the Kalahari and Okavango (in Maun),  and business opportunities make it a country that many people would like to visit at least once in a lifetime. If you are a Nigerian and you want to visit Botswana for business or tourism, you need a visa. I share details of how to get the Botswana visa with you in this post, but you can always contact me for help if you don’t want the hassle.

The Botswana High Commission in Nigeria is located in Abuja. This is where all visa applications must be submitted. Before submitting your application, ensure that you identify the specific visa you will need and collate the required documents. Irrespective of the category of visa you will be applying for, applicants are required to submit their applications not less than 30 days before their trip. Applicants must also certify the data page of their passport, as the certified copy is required as part of the documentation. It is also important that applicants do not submit fake, forged or dubious documents in applying for visa. Doing this leads to automatic visa refusal, likely blacklisting and potential criminal prosecution if detected.

Let me take you through the various categories of Botswana visa and their requirements. Note that payment of visa fees is required and such fees are non-refundable.
