The Minister of Tourism Culture and Wildlife Dr. Michael Usi has announced VISA fees waiver for tourists from selected markets. He made the announcement on Wednesday at Chongoni World Heritage Site where he presided over the disbursement of matching grants to 24 Local Enterprises around the site. The Minister was quoted to indicate 1st January as effective date for the waiver. Following the announcement, the Ministry wishes to clarify the following;
1). That the VISA fee waiver have been approved for tourists coming to Malawi from priority markets which include the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Netherlands, Germany Australia, Belgium, Italy, France, Poland, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, China, Russia, Canada and future markets based on arrival figures by purpose of visit.
2). To implement this approval, the Ministry is working with relevant authorities, in this matter, Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure this is done within the shortest time possible. The Ministry of Home Affairs will provide more information on the subsequent steps to be taken in compliance with the approval that we envisage to be effective by January 2023.
