Botswana Announces Temporary Closure of e-VISA Services

The Republic of Botswana through its Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs has announced the temporary closure of its e-VISA services. In a statement released on 26 October 2022, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship profoundly apologised for the temporary interruption of the online e-VISA application system due to what was referred to as “technical challenges.”

The press release however stated that it is only the online VISA application has been affected, with other VISA application platforms (office visit, Embassy/High Commission) still very much available to assist customers until further notice. It should however be noted also that registration of new VISA applications is temporarily closed until further notice.

While apologizing for any inconvenience caused, the department stated that it is working around the clock to resolve the challenge. It also promised to fully reimburse all duplicated payments that occurred due to the technical problem.
