The expansive Zakouma National Park lies southeast of N’Djamena, about 800 kilometres (500 miles). The 305,000-hectare park is home to massive herds of giraffes, lions, wildebeests, elephants, antelopes, lions and wildebeests, among others. March and April are the best months to visit especially if you’ll love to witness wildlife gatherings around the watering holes. Horseback riding and guided safari trips can be organized for visitors to the park. Accommodation facilities are also available in the park for visitors hoping to spend the night or extended days.
