The Enseleni Nature Reserve is a small reserve at 293 hectares, which lies just inland from the town of Richards Bay. The coastal grasslands and forests preponderate the reserve; these grasslands and forests are home to a thriving bird life. The Nseleni River-which gives the reserve its name- flows through the river and drains into the Insesi/Nsesi Lake just beyond Richards Bay. Giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, hippos and crocodiles are popular animals sighted at the resort. There are picnic areas and an activities centre, which is aimed at educational groups to educate them on the environment and the wildlife. Hiking trails are also available for those who wish to hike.
