It’s big! It’s massive!! It’s gigantic!!! It’s Uganda’s biggest mosque. Situated on the old Kampala Hill, this beautiful edifice is an amazing landmark to explore, especially the Minaret (or prayer tower) which offers an incredible and breath-taking view of the city. Construction started in 1972, halted in 1976, until the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi intervened and ensured its completion and inauguration in 2008. The mosque can accommodate as much as 200,000 worshippers.
