Just north of Luxor are the Karnak temples. The temples were built over 1500 years ago and were the most important place of worship in Ancient Egypt. Here Pleban gods are praised in an assortment of sanctuaries, pylons, and obelisks. The temples are the largest surviving place of worship in the world. If you are not able to visit all of the temples, be sure to make time to see the Hypostile Hall in the Great Temple of Amun. There are spectacular performances of the sound and light show after sunset.
